Fashions from the collections of the Sutliff Museum

1800s women's fashions from the Sutliff Museum collections.

Examples of ladies’ fashions are seen in the elegant wedding gowns of 1883, 1885 and 1878, a party dress of ivory satin with deep green velvet leg-o-mutton sleeves, and other fashions dating back to 1850. Hour-glass waists and bustles are in evidence. Embroidered bonnets, silk scarves, high-button gaiters and beautiful fans reveal styles of the past.
